Pathways School Curriculum Vision
A curriculum to develop confidence, independence and healthy relationships.
History at Pathways School
The Pathways History curriculum provides our students with a secure knowledge of historical civilisations and how they impacted upon and shaped the world that we live in today. We intend for our students to to understand and appreciate major historical civilisations and key historical events. This ranges from Ancient Greece to the Norman conquest.
Our teaching equips students to reflect on how we arrived at where we are and how we live today. One of the key skills students should be able to demonstrate is to be able to gather knowledge from Primary and Secondary sources and compare the reliability of evidence. Students get to ask perceptive questions, think critically, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. We encourage the children to question the sociology of the past and make links between life in the past and life today.
Our high expectations and aspirations
All lessons are delivered using an “I do, we do, you do” lesson structure which allows us to:
-
Be explicit with the knowledge that we choose to teach
-
Ensure that all of our lessons support the delivery of the intended curriculum
