Pathways School Curriculum Vision
A curriculum to develop confidence, independence and healthy relationships.
Intent
The KS4 food and cookery curriculum is carefully planned to deliver the knowledge that our students need to develop their independence in the adult world. Students will carefully prepare and cook food, understand the importance of the basic food groups and balanced diets, and plan and prepare meals according to a brief. The knowledge delivered in food and cookery is built upon the prior knowledge of multiple subjects across the school at KS2 and KS3; for instance healthy choices in KS3 PSHE. Units of work are carefully chosen so that students are able to progress towards a secure understanding of food and nutrition alongside independent tasks that foster independence in KS5 and beyond.
Our high expectations and aspirations
All lessons are delivered using an “I do, we do, you do” lesson structure which allows us to:
- Be explicit with the knowledge that we choose to teach
-
Ensure that all of our lessons support the delivery of the intended curriculum
