Pathways School Curriculum Vision
A curriculum to develop confidence, independence and healthy relationships.
Intent
Personal Development is studied by all students in KS4. Our Personal Development curriculum builds upon the knowledge delivered in KS2 and KS3 PSHE and provides our students with the space to develop their knowledge of building and sustaining healthy relationships and working with others through planned experiences (Outdoor Learning, work experience, enrichment activities and educational visits). The sequence of learning has been carefully selected to provide our students with the knowledge that they require to be successful in KS5 and beyond.
Our high expectations and aspirations
All lessons are delivered using an “I do, we do, you do” lesson structure which allows us to:
- Be explicit with the knowledge that we choose to teach
-
Bnsure that all of our lessons support the delivery of the intended curriculum
By the end of KS4, students will have applied their knowledge of healthy relationships to planned team building contents such as challenging activities during outdoor learning. Students will learn what makes a successful team function and how they can contribute to group success in a range of different social and work contexts. There is a strong emphasis on preparing for work with all students having additional employability workshops led by a local social enterprise alongside work experience placements where they can apply their learning in real life contexts.
